Accessibility statement

This statement applies to Estée Desanctis's portfolio (EcoDesign), available at https://estee-desanctis.github.io/website/. It says what has been checked, what has not been checked yet, and how to report a problem.

Commitment

I design accessible digital products and I want my own site to be accessible too. The goal of this site is to meet RGAA 4.1 and WCAG 2.2 at level AA.

Conformance status

This site has not undergone a full RGAA conformance audit. Its conformance status is therefore not assessed, and I do not claim any conformance rate.

This document is a transparency statement: it reports partial checks and the fixes they led to. It is not a statement of conformance.

What has been checked

Checks carried out on 6 October 2026 on the pages listed below:

  • automated testing with axe-core 4.14.0 (WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules, levels A and AA, and best practices): no issue detected by the tool;
  • validation of the HTML (html-validate 11.16.2) and CSS code: no errors;
  • structure checks by script: a single level-1 heading per page, continuous heading hierarchy, page landmarks, skip link, language of each page, names of links, buttons and form fields, image text alternatives, new-window warnings, internal links and anchors;
  • contrast ratios computed with the WCAG formula from the CSS colours: text at least 4.5:1, interface components and focus indicator at least 3:1;
  • comparison of the content before and after the site rebuild: no text lost.

These checks were run on a simulated page (JSDOM), not in a browser. An automated tool only covers part of the RGAA criteria.

What has not been checked yet

  • reading with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver);
  • keyboard navigation in a real browser and tab order;
  • display at 320 pixels wide, 400% zoom and user-modified text spacing;
  • contrast measured on the final rendering (background images, gradients);
  • the mobile menu on real devices (iOS, Android).

Content not checked or known to be limited

  • PDF documents (CV and portfolio, in French and English): their accessibility has not been checked.
  • Video on the Dualsun page (wiring tutorial): no soundtrack, with a short description and a caption, but no detailed transcript of the steps.
  • Product screenshots: their text alternatives summarise the content; text inside the images is not always transcribed in full.
  • English terms inside French text (tool names, job titles): they are not all marked with their language. Full quotations in English are.
  • Third-party services (LinkedIn, Behance, Figma, Malt, Medium, Gmail): their accessibility does not depend on this site. The contact form opens Gmail's compose window in a new window; the email address is also shown in plain text on the home page.

Accessibility measures in place

  • static HTML pages, readable and navigable without JavaScript;
  • skip link, landmark structure, ordered headings, semantic lists;
  • language declared per page, French and English versions at separate addresses;
  • visible focus indicator, mobile menu usable with the keyboard (state announced, closes with the Escape key);
  • relative text sizes, reduced-motion preference respected;
  • colours that meet contrast thresholds, fonts hosted on the site;
  • video with controls and no autoplay, instead of an animated GIF;
  • new-window opening and PDF downloads announced in the link names.

Technologies used

HTML5, CSS, SVG and light JavaScript (mobile menu and form), as progressive enhancement. WAI-ARIA is used sparingly. Pages are generated in advance by a script; no third-party library is loaded by the browser.
